Tree Planting

On Friday 31st January we were excited and overwhelmed to welcome well over 100 adults and children to plant a selection of trees from the Woodland Trust and TCV (The Conservation Volunteers). Katie, our Forest School practitioner from Tanglewood, led the event to help increase the number of species in the wooded area and encourage a greater diversity of wildlife in the coming years for our children to experience and explore.

Katie gave a demonstration on planting the small trees to give them the best start in life and everyone got stuck in – thankfully not literally, although there were plenty of muddy gloves and wellies!

Those children who have already had Friday sessions in this outdoor learning space proudly showed their parents around pointing out areas they have worked on or activities they have been involved in.

Despite the damp conditions, everyone enjoyed a fabulous time, planting trees and enjoying a cup of hot chocolate and biscuits under the canopy of our new Forest School, made possible by the school’s wonderful PTFA.

Thank you to everyone who came along to support, it was lovely to see so many of you on a damp Friday afternoon!
