Tatton Park Apprentices
Our White Tigers have today, Thursday 12th September, experienced a day ‘in service’ at Tatton Park Country Mansion. At the request of Lord and Lady Edgerton, the children were taken to the house by their ‘Governess’, Mrs Lafford, and trialled for employment under the watchful eye of the housekeeper! Our hard workers did not let us down and excelled in their new roles as chamber maids, footmen and cooks. The children experienced a realistic day in the life of a Victorian servant: scrubbing floors, making beds, laying fires, polishing silver and baking scones. Because they performed their chores so well and demonstrated outstanding knowledge of the Victorian era, they were also treated to a tour of the magnificent rooms in the house and were allowed to take home their baking to share with families. As always, our children were exceptionally behaved and did us proud.
