Standon Bowers 2019
The sun was shining for our Year 5/6 residential this year to Standon Bowers. We had a fantastic three days away from home and school, taking part in bridge building, BMXing, archery, a blindfold trail, the high ropes course and bushcraft activities. We all made some new friends from St Bartholemews and enjoyed spending lots of quality down-time with our class mates after a busy half term at school (for Year 6, it couldn’t have been better timing – the week after SATs!!). Mr Walker and Mrs Lafford were very proud of everyone’s achievements – each and everyone of the children were challenged in some way over the course of the week, whether that was jumping off the high rope tower, spending time away from home and parents or putting trust in our friends who were responsible for our safety in the high ropes and blind-fold activities. Back at school, the children produced a script for a special assembly to share their most treasured memories from the trip. Parents and children were treated to a comical ‘Oscars’ performance, where the childen recounted some of the more funny stories from the week and awarded each other with a spoof certificate. They also recieved a special disc of photos and a movie that had been put together as a souvenir of their experiences. Well done Years 5 and 6 – you were fab!
